Ro-IFF 2015 is almost starting!

RockZone section (Club 27)

Bucharest, August 13th 2015 - Between August 19th and 30th in Amfiteatru – La Pescarie in Vama Veche, the first stage of the eleventh edition of the annual Romania International Film Festival (Ro-IFF) will take place, presenting Romanian cinema-goers with films that are not distributed on the multiplex circuit. The second stage of the Festival will take place from the 19th to the 25th of October at Cinema Union in Bucharest.

Amongst the novelties included in the Ro-IFF 2015 agenda there are also a number of special presentations dedicated to emblematic rock stars in musical history that have in common a sad destiny: they all died at the age of 27, thus joining the so-called “club 27". For seven days (19-24th August) before the screenings, the Festival will host, in partnership with RockZone.ro, 30 minute presentations about Kurt Cobain, Amy Whinehouse, Janice Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. There will be pictures, music and special guest Liviu Zamora.

Like any other ‘voice’ in radio, little is known about Liviu. In 1990 he began working with Radio Romania, where he conducted and presented notable music programs, working alongside Florian Lungu, Florian Pittis, Titus Andrei and Paul Grigoriu. He was one of the founders of the first independent radio station in Romania, Uniplus Radio, where he conducted and presented successful music programs. He worked in newspapers, organising and writing in the first music newspapers of the 90s, including Metronom, Rocker and VoxPopRock.

After over 25 years as a radio presenter and over 40 years of listening to music, Liviu Zamora aims to present annually, in the Ro-IFF, short programs that will present images and undiscovered stories about characters of his choosing.

Romania International Film Festival is the only festival that promotes East-European filmmakers from the countries around the Black Sea (in the competition CineBlackSea) and also the only one in Romania that has a competitive section reserved for women filmmakers (Woman in Cinema). Ro-IFF joins all those who have joined their voices and actions to aid the Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, detained by Russian security (FSB) in May 2014.

Those making this edition possible are, the National Centre of Cinematography and National Archive of Films – Romanian Film Library (institutional partners). Other partners and sponsors include: Zizin, Kfea.ro, Cramele Basilescu, DHL – logistic partner. Ro-IFF Festival is recommended by Prima TV and Kiss FM. Online media partner: RockZone.ro. Other online partners: AaRC.ro, Concerte Azi.ro, CineFan.ro, PRwave, iconcert, Radio Lynx, Metropotam, vinşieu, Feeder.ro.
